Writer / Narrative Designer

Dungeon Master

Yes, I’ve been a Dungeon Master for around 10 years. And that’s part of why I became a Narrative Designer. D&D forces you to embrace player agency and to prepare your story for the chaotic choices of a bunch of sociopathic murder hobos (your friends). Here it’s not a matter of one story: it’s all of them.

Ultimately, D&D taught me how to be a Narrative Designer, by understanding storytelling as a collaborative craft.

At VFS I even won an award for best D&D Module! These are those modules:

The Tale of the Blood Sword:

In the pirate kingdom of Islandsword, now under the Waterdeep Empire's rule, adventurers embark on a quest to uncover the tomb and treasure of the fallen Pirate King. They navigate treacherous waters, battling pirates and a fearsome dragon, all while seeking the legendary Blood Sword.

The sword, once a holy relic, is now cursed and seeks revenge for its master's betrayal. As the adventurers delve deeper into the ruins of the Pirate King's palace, they confront their own desires and face the wrath of the vengeful spirit.

Ultimately, they must choose their path: succumb to the sword's power or break its curse, restoring peace to Islandsword and claiming the riches that await.

Untamed Souls

A party traveling to Neverwinter faces a werewolf attack, leaving one member cursed with lycanthropy. They must hunt down the werewolf Cryptosaint to break the curse. In Neverwinter, they discover the werewolf's connection to the missing mayor's daughter, Luna. The party ventures to Silver Mountain, facing hunters and treacherous terrain. In the werewolf's lair, they confront Luna, now transformed. After a fierce battle, they defeat Luna, curing their companion but at a tragic cost. The party grapples with the bittersweet victory and the decision of revealing the truth to Neverwinter.

A little bit of what my player's have to say

Nohara Ramos (VFS Alumni)

Having played D&D was one of the most bizarre experiences of my life, either because my mentor was Mexican or because D&D is bizarre in itself, or it could be both, but Hauvery created a core memory that will be impossible to erase.

Mika Yekrangian (VFS Alumni)

I hadn't played Dungeons and Dragons in years, and somehow Hauvery managed to perfectly balance easing us into the chaotic campaign and teaching us the mechanics, without making it feel like we've paused the story to do so. If he didn't live three countries away I'd play with him weekly.

Héctor Aguilar, DM

DMing is no easy task. However, this guy makes it look so easy that even made me accept the challenge. Now I'm stuck in the forever DM phase of my life. As a player, be ready to match his chaotic-adhd creative combo and make your collective adventure go in the direction you least expected to.
